Cleaning your Shrooly

Uphold a healthy growing environment by regular cleaning

Updated over 3 months ago

Why is it important to clean your Shrooly?

Infections unfortunately can increase the chance for the failure of cultivation. To reduce the possibility of infection, we should aim to hold the Device as clean and sterile as possible to ensure the perfect growing environment for the mushrooms.

Harvestable and aged mushrooms could also produce spores which could endanger the next cultivation if not cleaned out properly:

Step 1 — Unplug the device

Always make sure to unplug your Shrooly from the electrical outlet before cleaning and maintenance.

Step 2 — Clean the humidifier unit

Remove the humidifier unit and clean it in the sink. Don’t worry about the fan, as it’s waterproof. For a deeper clean, disassemble the fan from the humidifier and rinse it until all spores and contaminants are removed to prevent mold growth during subsequent cultivations. Use Soap or dish soap for best results.

Step 3 — Clean the doors

Remove the doors and clean them. Use a soft cloth or sponge to ensure gentle cleaning, ensuring that no scratches occur. Use soap for best results.

Step 4 — Empty the water tank

Remove water from the water tank. Use the filling cup to remove most of the water, and use a sponge, paper towel, or dry cloth to wipe it dry.

Step 5 — Disinfect or replace the humidifier wick

Ensure the humidifier wick is disinfected or replaced to maintain optimal performance.

Disinfect all surfaces of the wick with a disinfection material from a spray bottle.

Use alcohol-based disinfectant for the best results.

Step 7 - Clean your filling cup and spray bottle

Use soap and water to clean your filling cup and spray bottle. Make sure there’s no soap residue left behind after you’ve finished cleaning.

Step 8 — Check HEPA filter

You can now remove the HEPA filter’s lid and clean it under the sink. It’s important to keep it on until this point as it can prevent water damage to the HEPA filter. Check if the HEPA filter needs to be replaced.
