A mushroom Pod can be harvested up to three times, through what's called the second and third flushes. The second flush often yields a plentiful harvest, but the third flush is less likely to produce much, if any, yield.
This article compiles frequently asked questions, as well as common issues and solutions related to the second and third flushes.
How to start a new cultivation from the same Pod?
If you would like to start a new cultivation from the same Pod, follow these steps:
Step 1 β Finish your current cultivation
Stop the ongoing cultivation and harvest your mushrooms.
Step 2 β Spray your Pod
Fill the provided spray bottle with water and spray at least 2-3 times onto the surface of the Pod from a distance of 5 cm / 2 inches.
You don't need to cut the Pod again, you can use the surface that you have already cut.
Step 3 β Insert the Pod
Position the open Pod into your Shrooly with the cut part facing upward to allow your precious mushrooms to begin growing freely. Close the doors on both sides and ensure a snug fit for efficient humidification.
Step 4 β Start a new cultivation program
Start a new cultivation program from the app or from your Shrooly's display.
How to store the Pod if you don't want to start a new cultivation right away?
We recommend starting a second cultivation as soon as possible after your first harvest to minimize the risk of infection to your Pod. If you prefer not to begin a new cultivation immediately, seal the Pod's opening with a sticker to prevent infection or dehydration. After sealing, store your Pod in the refrigerator.
When does the second or third flush start growing?
Second and third flushes usually take longer to start growing than the first one, and the specific timeframe can vary depending on the type of mushroom.
